Legendary Pokémon
Legendary and mythical Pokémon reach PBO in several ways: some live in the wild or roam a region after a quest, many are sold as chests for event currencies, and some are crafted. This page covers everything you can get outside seasonal events.

How chests work
Section titled “How chests work”A Pokémon chest (or box) is an item that starts a wild battle with its Pokémon when you open it from your Bag. You still have to catch it, so open it with a healthy party and plenty of Poké Balls.
Some chests are only sold during certain months, shown as “Jan–Mar only” and so on.
Legendary Pokémon by source
Section titled “Legendary Pokémon by source”This table is built from the game’s shops, crafting recipes, spawn and quest data. Shops are followed by the maps where they stand.

Notes on the trickier ones
Section titled “Notes on the trickier ones”Kyogre and Groudon
Section titled “Kyogre and Groudon”Both live on timed maps that you enter with a ticket, once you have all 8 Hoenn badges:
Kyogre is fished in the Tidal Sanctum. The Master Fisherman in the Fishing Guru’s House (Kanto) sells Tidal Sanctum Tickets (1, 8 or 24 hours) once your Fishing level is 120.

Groudon appears in the Infernal Sanctum. The Blueprint Guru in the Pickaxe Guru House (Hoenn) sells Infernal Sanctum Tickets once your Mining level is 150.

See Fishing and Mining for levelling those skills.
The lake trio
Section titled “The lake trio”
Uxie,
Mesprit and
Azelf come from the Legendary Caverns behind Sinnoh’s three lakes. Beating the legendary at the end of a cavern gives its core (Knowledge, Emotion or Will Core), which you craft into an
Uxie Box, Mesprit Box or Azelf Box.
See Legendary Caverns for the route.

The Regis
Section titled “The Regis”Each Regi has a daily battle on its own map. Their reward pools include the core you need to craft that Regi’s chest:
| Regi | Daily battle | Core |
|---|---|---|
| Stonegrip Cavern (Hoenn) | Rock Core | |
| Frostvault Cavern (Hoenn) | Ice Core | |
| Ironheart Cavern (Hoenn) | Steel Core | |
| Fennel Ruins (Kanto) | Dragon Core |

Roaming legendaries
Section titled “Roaming legendaries”A roamer is on one map at a time, and it is the same map for every player. It stays there until a player catches it. It then moves to another map where it roams, and every player who has unlocked it gets a message that it “was spotted somewhere”. Defeating it or running away doesn’t move it.
The Roaming Pokemon Tracker in the top-right icon bar lists the roamers you have unlocked and the map each one is on right now. Check it again after the “spotted” message.
Each roamer only starts roaming for you after its quest:
Heatran: beat it on Stark Mountain and it roams Sinnoh. See Heatran at Stark Mountain.

Raikou,
Entei or
Suicune: beat one of the monks in the Underground Cavern, on Mt. Inferno #8 or in Lehar Town, and that monk’s legendary roams Jvaloh. Only one of the three roams for you at a time; see The legendary dog priests.
Latios or
Latias: the Eon Flute Expert on Mt. Pyre (Summit) calls the one you choose for 50,000 F, and it roams Hoenn. Only one of them roams for you at a time; see The Eon Duo.
Manaphy: once your Fishing level is 80, it roams Hoenn and you meet it by fishing.

Mewtwo: after its battle in Cerulean Cave B1F, it roams the floors of Cerulean Cave.
Yveltal: after the Calamity Covenant quest, Mr. Fuji on Pokémon Tower 1F can release it with the Dark Orb. It then roams Kanto for up to a week, once a month. See Shadows of Destruction.

Cosmog, Solgaleo, Lunala and Necrozma
Section titled “Cosmog, Solgaleo, Lunala and Necrozma”
Cosmog comes from mining: reaching Mining level 100 awards a Cosmog Chest, and Cosmog Chests are also a Legendary find while mining. Cosmog evolves into
Cosmoem at level 43. Cosmoem evolves at level 53 into
Solgaleo by day or
Lunala by night (day and night times).
Necrozma is crafted at Crafting level 20. Its Prismatic Core is a Legendary find while mining.- To fuse Necrozma, craft an
N-Solarizer (for Dusk Mane, with Solgaleo) or
N-Lunarizer (for Dawn Wings, with Lunala) at Crafting level 30 and use it from your Bag. The
Sun Core comes from Origin Ore and the Moon Core from Dark Ore while mining.
Other fusions
Section titled “Other fusions”Fusion Masters combine two legendaries into one. You need exactly one of each Pokémon involved in your party:
| Fusion | Fusion Master | Pokémon needed |
|---|---|---|
| Ice Fusion Master, Snowpoint City | ||
| Shadow Fusion Master, Lost Tower #3 | ||
| Black Fusion Master, Cinnabar Lab Reception Room | ||
| White Fusion Master, Cinnabar Lab Reception Room |

Calyrex and Zekrom are in the table above. Glastrier, Spectrier, Kyurem and Reshiram have no source outside seasonal events at the moment.
Ranked rewards and events
Section titled “Ranked rewards and events”Some legendaries are rewards for climbing the ranked ladder, such as chests for
Zeraora,
Meltan,
Volcanion,
Keldeo,
Hoopa,
Celebi,
Jirachi and
Pecharunt. They change by season; see Ranked PvP.
Seasonal events bring their own legendaries: roamers, swarms, bosses and event-shop chests. They are not listed here because they are only available while the event runs. Watch the in-game announcements and the PBO forums.
