Achievements and leaderboards

Achievements mark milestones all over the game: the story, catching, battles, Dynamax Invasions, money, gathering and competitions. Many of them come with an item, and the biggest give a Master Ball or a starter Mega Stone. The same window holds the leaderboards, where you compare your numbers with everyone, your friends or your crew.

Press Achievements in the main menu, or L on a computer. The switch at the top left changes between Achievements and Leaderboards, and the window’s title follows it. On a phone the switch shows a trophy and a podium instead of words.

The window always opens on Achievements. Press the button or the key again to close it.

Achievements window: the categories with their counts and Almost there on the left, the list in the middle, and an unlocked achievement on the right with its medal, its reward and the share of players who have it
Pick an achievement to see its reward and how rare it is.

On a computer, the left side lists the categories. Each shows how many of its achievements you have, with a bar, and All shows every achievement. Under the categories, Almost there lists the 3 achievements you are closest to finishing.

The list in the middle has up to three parts:

Part What it holds
In progress The next step of each track you have started, closest to done first, with a bar and your count
Unlocked The achievements you have, rarest first
Locked Everything else

None are hidden: the list shows every achievement in the game. A red NEW marks one you unlocked since you last opened the window on this device. The count at the top right shows how many of the 190 you have.

To search, type in the box at the top, or press / to jump to it. The search looks through every category at once and matches names and descriptions in your game language. On a phone there is no search box: tap the category name at the top to pick another category, or use the arrows next to it to step through them.

Click (or tap) an achievement to see it on the right:

  • its category and its medal: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum or Platinum +
  • what it asks for, and your progress as a bar, a percentage and your count
  • its reward, marked On unlock until you have it and Received after; on a computer, hover over it to see the item
  • the share of players who have it
  • its ladder: the other steps of the same track, up to 6 at a time, lit up to the last one you have (click a step to open it)

The rarity line counts players, not chances: it says what share of the players who played in the last 90 days have unlocked that achievement. The server counts it again every 6 hours.

When you unlock an achievement, a chat message congratulates you and its item goes straight into your Bag.

Big Not-So Friendly Giant, for 25,000,000 damage in total in Dynamax Invasions, gives no item. It goes with the Damage Leaderboard card style instead. Once you have unlocked it, its details show Claim, which opens the Card style picker on that style; you claim it there. See getting a style.

  • Totals keep growing. Catches, battles, damage and money count everything since your first day. A total that passes several milestones unlocks all of them.
  • Dynamax damage has two kinds of track. One counts your best damage to a single boss in one invasion. The others add up all the damage you have ever dealt.
  • Gym Badges add up across regions. Sinnoh’s badges are 1–8, then Jvaloh 9–16, Hoenn 17–24 and Kanto 25–32, because the regions open in that order.
  • Catches by rarity count wild catches. The rarity is the one shown on the Pokémon location pages. The game’s descriptions call Very Rare Pokémon “Super Rare tier”.
  • Competition achievements need you online. They unlock when the prizes are handed out at the end of a Bug Catching or Fishing Competition. Only players who are online at that moment get them.

The 12 Master Balls sit at the end of long tracks, such as 10,000 catches, 25 shiny catches or 750 wins against NPC trainers.

Damage to G-Max Charizard, G-Max Venusaur and G-Max Blastoise has its own tracks, and most of their milestones give that Pokémon’s Mega Stone. The bosses and their invasions are explained in Community goal invasions in Kanto.

Use the search box, the category menu or With a reward only to narrow the list. Names are the ones the game shows in your language.

The table’s categories are finer than the game’s:

Category in the game Achievements Category in the table
Collection 67 Catching; Fishing, mining and crafting
Story 36 Story
PvE 54 Battles; Dynamax Invasions
PvP 15 PvP
Market 10 Money
Competition 8 Competitions

190 achievements, 84 of them with a reward.

The Leaderboards side ranks players by the numbers on their Trainer Card: catches, wild battles, wins, Dynamax Invasions damage, skills, competitions and more. Every board can show Today, This week, This month or All time, among Everyone, your Friends or your Crew. It opens on Wild battles, This week, Everyone.

Leaderboards on NPC wins this week: the top 10 with your own row pinned under it, and on the right your rank, the gap to the next place and the players around you
Your rank sits under the top 10, with the players just above and below you.

On a computer, pick a group on the left, then a stat in the strip above the board; the arrows at either end of the strip step through the group. The periods and the scopes are at the top.

On a phone, tap the stat name at the top to see every stat by group, or use the arrows next to it. The periods are shortened to Day, Week, Month and All. On a narrow phone, the scope buttons move to the panel on the right.

Period Counts
Today Since 00:00 server time (UTC)
This week Since Monday
This month Since the 1st
All time Everything since your first day

A stat that keeps a best, such as Best Dynamax damage, shows your best in that period instead of a total.

Group Boards
Collection Catches, Shinies, Legendaries, Rares caught, Very Rares caught, Ultra Rares caught
Wild Encounters, Shinies found, Ultra Rares found, Wild battles, Shinies defeated, Ultra Rares defeated, Item drops, Battles fled
Battle Wins, Ranked wins, Random wins, Crew Wars wins, NPC wins, Tower wins, Best tower streak
Dynamax Dynamax damage, Best Dynamax damage, G-Max Charizard damage, G-Max Venusaur damage, G-Max Blastoise damage
Skills Ores mined, Dark ores mined, Mining fails, Dark ore fails, Fossils exchanged, Fish hooked, Crafts, Items crafted
Competitions Bug contest wins, Best bug score, Fishing contest wins, Best fish weight
Journey EXP gained, Money made, Money spent, Items used, Pokémon chests opened, Released

Skill levels, Pokédex counts, badges, your ladder rating and your play time have no board, though your Trainer Card can show them.

  • Everyone boards list the top 10, with ranks 1–3 in gold, silver and bronze. If you are not in the top 10, your own row is pinned under them.
  • Friends and Crew boards list up to 50 of your friends or crew members. Without a crew, the Crew board asks you to join one.
  • A green dot next to a name means that player is online.
  • The line above an Everyone board says when it was last updated. Your own number is always up to date.

The panel on the right shows your rank and your number. Under them:

  • a chip such as +250 to #381: how much more you need to pass the next player up
  • a Top 20%, Top 5% or Top 1% chip when your all-time number is among the best players’ (also in Your best on the left, which lists up to 3 such stats; click one to open its board)
  • Around you on Everyone boards: the 2 players above you and the 2 below
  • Ahead of you on Friends and Crew boards: up to 3 players ahead of you, with how much more each has

If you have none of that stat in the period, the panel says you are not on the board yet.

Click (or tap) another player on the board for View Trainer Card, Whisper and Add Friend. View Trainer Card works only while they are online. On a phone, the rows next to your rank are only for show: tap the player on the board itself.

The Leaderboards side gives no prizes. Some activities keep their own leaderboard in another window:

  • the ranked ladder: the PvP window’s Ratings tab; see ranked PvP
  • the Bug Catching and Fishing Competitions: a live leaderboard while they run; see hunting competitions
  • Dynamax Invasions: the Dynamax Damage Leaderboard; see Dynamax Invasions
  • the Battle Tower: a leaderboard of the best streaks while you are in the Tower; see Battle Frontier
