Dynamax Invasions
A Dynamax Invasion is a server-wide boss event. Two or three Dynamaxed Pokémon appear around one area, and everyone online has up to 1 hour to bring them down together.

Their HP is shared: every point of damage you deal comes off the same health bar that other players are attacking. You earn Dynite Ore and items based on how much damage you did.
When invasions happen
Section titled “When invasions happen”Invasions start at these fixed times (UTC):
| Day | Times (UTC) |
|---|---|
| Monday | 18:00 |
| Wednesday | 01:00 and 18:00 |
| Friday | 01:00 and 18:00 |
| Saturday | 10:00 and 16:00 |
| Sunday | 03:00 and 20:00 |
- Seasonal events: during the Halloween, Easter and Christmas events they run every day at 02:00, 14:00 and 21:00 UTC instead, in event areas.
- Length: each invasion lasts 1 hour, or ends early once every boss has fainted.
- Finding it: open the Events button in the map panel to see when the next one starts; while one is running, a notice tells you where.
Where they appear
Section titled “Where they appear”Outside seasonal events, each scheduled invasion picks one of these areas at random, never the same area twice in a row. Every boss in the area has to faint for the invasion to count as cleared. In the Doubles areas you fight both bosses at once in a double battle.

Every map a boss can stand on, by region:

How to fight
Section titled “How to fight”- Find a boss. Travel to the invasion area and walk up to a boss. It stands on the map while the invasion runs.
- Battle it. Fight it with your party. The boss keeps whatever HP the server has left, so you join a fight already in progress.
- Deal damage. Hit it as hard as you can. When your team faints, you are sent to your last Pokémon Center, and the damage you dealt still counts.
- Heal and go back in. You can fight as many times as you like until the bosses faint or the hour ends.
Revives cannot be used in these battles. The Dynamax Damage Leaderboard shows how much damage you and the top players have done.

How the bosses work
Section titled “How the bosses work”Every invasion boss:
- is level 85, with a large HP pool that is even larger when many players are online
- has 5 moves (4 attacks or setup moves plus Haze) and never runs out of PP
- likes to start with its setup move if it has one (Swords Dance, Quiver Dance, Bulk Up and so on)
- has the special ability Dynahax
What Dynahax blocks
Section titled “What Dynahax blocks”| Effect | What happens |
|---|---|
| Status conditions | The boss cannot be burned, poisoned, paralysed, frozen or put to sleep. |
| Damage that is not a direct attack | No damage from weather, Leech Seed, Rocky Helmet, Rough Skin, Iron Barbs, status or hazards. Only your moves hurt it. |
| Fixed and percentage damage | Super Fang, Endeavor, Final Gambit, Pain Split, Nature’s Madness, Ruination and one-hit KO moves fail. |
| Healing from the boss | Draining moves such as Giga Drain and Drain Punch restore nothing for you when they hit the boss. |
| Healing for the boss | The boss cannot recover HP from Leftovers, Grassy Terrain or any other effect that is not a move. |
| Move locks | Taunt, Encore, Torment and Imprison fail. |
| Trapping | Bind, Wrap, Whirlpool, Fire Spin, Infestation and similar moves fail. |
| Typing and ability tricks | Soak, Forest’s Curse, Trick-or-Treat, Magic Powder, Simple Beam, Entrainment, Skill Swap and Role Play fail. Mold Breaker and similar abilities do not switch it off. |
| Item swaps | Trick, Switcheroo, Bestow and item-stealing abilities fail. Knock Off still works. |
| Other | Perish Song, Foul Play, Heal Pulse and Copycat fail. |

Moves you cannot select against an invasion boss
These moves cannot be selected at all: Baton Pass, Destiny Bond, Grudge, Power Trick, Skill Swap, Bestow, Dragon Cheer, Guard Split, Power Split, Speed Swap, Soak, Magic Powder, Trick-or-Treat, Forest’s Curse, Doodle, Imprison, Role Play and Copycat.
Every boss carries Haze, which wipes all stat changes on both sides. It is likely to use it when one of your Pokémon has a stat raised by +2 or more, or when one of its own stats has been lowered to −2 or below. It sometimes uses it after a single +1 boost on your side, but a boss stat at −1 on its own does not trigger it.
You can use this in two ways:
- Spread your debuffs. Lower several different boss stats by one stage each (Attack, Defense, Speed, accuracy) rather than stacking one stat to −2.
- Make it waste its setup. When the boss has used Swords Dance or Quiver Dance, raise one of your own stats or drop one of its stats to −2. It will often answer with Haze, which clears its own boosts too.
Rewards
Section titled “Rewards”Rewards arrive when every boss has fainted or the hour runs out. Your damage is the total over all your battles in that invasion, and you need at least 5,000 damage to earn anything.
Dynite Ore
Section titled “Dynite Ore”| Your damage | |
|---|---|
| 5,000–15,000 | 10 |
| 15,001–30,000 | 20 |
| 30,001–55,000 | 40 |
| 55,001–100,000 | 50 |
| 100,001–300,000 | 70 |
| 300,001–500,000 | 90 |
| 500,001–750,000 | 110 |

| Over 1,000,000 | 150, plus 10 for every further 100,000 (up to 200) |
If the bosses are not all fainted in time, you get half the ore and no items.
If every boss faints, you also get one random item from each tier you reached. For example, 600,000 damage gives one item from tiers 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Your lifetime damage also counts toward achievements, and it has its own boards on the leaderboards. At 25,000,000 damage in total you unlock Big Not-So Friendly Giant and can claim the Damage Leaderboard card style.

Community goal invasions in Kanto
Section titled “Community goal invasions in Kanto”Three more invasions are started by the whole server instead of the clock. Defeating enough wild Pokémon of certain types fills a community goal; when it fills, a 45-minute invasion begins. The goals do not fill while one of these invasions is running.
| Boss | Where | Goal |
|---|---|---|
| G-Max Charizard | Pokémon Mansion 1F, Cinnabar Island | 300,000 Fire- or Flying-type Pokémon defeated |
| G-Max Venusaur | Celadon City | 300,000 Grass- or Poison-type Pokémon defeated |

|---|---|---|
| G-Max Charizard | 5, 25, 50 and 100 million | |
| G-Max Venusaur | 5, 25, 50, 100 and 200 million | |
| G-Max Blastoise | 5, 25, 50, 100 and 200 million |
Building a damage team
Section titled “Building a damage team”A strong invasion team has two jobs: supports that weaken the boss and protect the team, and an attacker that hits hard and survives its attacks.
- Learn the boss. Check its typing and its moves in the table above. Bring an attacker that resists the boss’s strongest attacks.
- Hit the weaker defence. Most bosses have one low defensive stat. Use physical attackers against a low Defense and special attackers against a low Special Defense.
- Debuff, but carefully. Moves like Growl, Tickle, Leer, Mud-Slap, Apple Acid, Rock Tomb and Bulldoze lower the boss’s Attack, defences, accuracy or Speed. Spread them across stats so you do not set off Haze.
- Damage without stat boosts. Focus Energy,
Metronome (the held item),
Choice Band or
Choice Specs, weather and terrain raise your damage without counting as stat boosts. - Mind the speed. The boss is level 85, so check your attacker outspeeds it, or slow it first.
- Use Knock Off. Many bosses hold
Weakness Policy,
Muscle Band or
Wise Glasses, and Knock Off is one of the few item moves that still works.
Example: G-Max Kingler at Lake Verity
Section titled “Example: G-Max Kingler at Lake Verity”Kingler is a Water type with very high Defense (115) but low Special Defense (50), so special attackers do far more damage. Its moves are Swords Dance, G-Max Foam Burst (Water, also lowers your Speed), Knock Off (Dark) and High Horsepower (Ground). A Grass and Dark Pokémon such as
Cacturne resists all three attacks and has a strong special Grass move.
A popular community team:
| Pokémon | Its job |
|---|---|
| Sets Grassy Terrain (stronger Grass moves) and Reflect, and uses Tickle to lower Kingler’s Attack and Defense. | |
| With Drought it sets sun, so Solar Beam fires in one turn, and it uses Mud-Slap to lower Kingler’s accuracy. | |
| Lowers Special Defense with Apple Acid. Sweet Scent drops Kingler’s evasion by 2 stages, which tempts it to use Haze and throw away its Swords Dance. | |
