Ash and Lucarionite

A trainer with a Pikachu keeps crossing your path in Kanto. Beat Ash at each meeting and he gives you something useful, including the two Kanto starters you did not pick. Once you are Kanto Champion he becomes a weekly Champion who can drop Lucarionite.

Story battles

Section titled “Story battles”

  1. Battle Ash in Viridian Forest. His team: Pikachu, Pidgey, Butterfree (level 10).

    Gift: Pikachu-Original and 650 F.

  2. Battle Ash in Mt. Moon. His team: Pikachu, Pidgeotto, Butterfree, Charmander (level 15).

    Gift: the Kanto starter that is strong against yours: Charmander if you chose Bulbasaur, Squirtle if you chose Charmander, Bulbasaur if you chose Squirtle.

  3. Battle Ash on S.S. Anne 1F. His team: Pikachu, Charmeleon, Pidgeotto, Wartortle (levels 24–27).

    Gift: the last Kanto starter: Squirtle if you chose Bulbasaur, Bulbasaur if you chose Charmander, Charmander if you chose Squirtle.

  4. Battle Ash on Route 9. His team: Pikachu, Ivysaur, Charmeleon, Munchlax, Wartortle (levels 27–31).

    Gift: Light Ball and 2,500 F.

  5. Battle Ash in Fuchsia City. His team: Pikachu, Charizard, Venusaur, Snorlax, Pidgeot, Blastoise (levels 41–47).

    Gift: Wise Glasses and 5,000 F.

Champion Ash

After the Fuchsia battle and once you are Kanto Champion, Ash waits in the Elite 4 Lobby (Kanto). He fights like the other weekly Champions, with a difficulty you choose and one of three level 100 teams:

On Hard, Ash can drop Lucarionite. It is a one-time drop: once you have it, he will not drop it again. See Gyms, Elite Four and Champions.
