Echoes of the Unknown (Fennel Valley)

Strange ruins have appeared in Fennel Valley, a hidden corner of Kanto. Researchers there send you back to Hoenn’s Sage Eron, and the trail leads through a labyrinth full of Unown to a dormant statue of Regidrago.

  • Finish the first part of Sage Eron’s quest. Play Sage Eron and the Regis up to the point where Eron sends you to his brother in Pacifidlog Town. The Fennel Valley researchers only appear after that.
  • Collect the plates. You need 5 Stone Plates, 5 Icicle Plates and 5 Iron Plates (the Regis drop them) and 5 Splash Plates, 5 Earth Plates and 5 Flame Plates (found by mining).
  1. Find Fennel Valley. Its entrance is on the north edge of Route 9 in Kanto, near the east end of the route. Go north through Fennel Valley - Valley into Fennel Valley. You need 8 Kanto badges to go in.

  2. Talk to the researchers. In Fennel Valley, speak with Scientist Arya, Archeologist Marcus and Miner Kellan. All three point you to the sage on Route 120 in Hoenn.

  3. Pay the tribute. Back on Route 120, Sage Eron senses disturbances in the “Regi Pyramids”. Give him Stone Platex5, Icicle Platex5 and Iron Platex5. He sends you to Panagiotis on Route 121.

  5. Read the bookshelf. In Panagiotis’s Dwelling, inspect the bookshelf. You learn about the Hidden Labyrinth beneath the ruins and its tributes. Talk to Panagiotis again before you leave.

  6. Return to Fennel Valley. The path to Fennel Valley - Ruins is now open. A group of Unown blocks the way and asks, letter by letter, for the “water gift”: hand over Splash Platex5.

  7. Enter Fennel Cave. Inside, the next Unown wants earth. It floats in the north-east part of the cave. Hand it Earth Platex5 and the way deeper, in the north-west corner, opens.

  9. Wake the Regidrago statue. In the Fennel Ruins stands a statue of Regidrago. It only wakes once you understand “the ancient script”: you must have seen all 28 Unown forms in your Pokédex. Then confirm, and Regidrago breaks free.

All 28 Unown forms live in the Fennel caves, so you will see them on the way:

Regidrago now waits in the Fennel Ruins and can be battled once a day. Like the other Regis, it only accepts the challenge if you have the current 4-month trio from Sage Caius’s riddle in your party; see Sage Eron and the Regis.

Team (level 100): Dragapult, Tyrantrum, Regidrago, Archaludon, Raging Bolt, Mega Garchomp.

Each win gives one random item from this list:

Dragon Core, TM200 Scale Shot, TM169 Draco Meteor, TM156 Outrage, TM115 Dragon Pulse, IV Randomizer, IV Potion, Blaze Coinx10, Pearl String, Balm Mushroom, One Time Focus Sashx3, One Time Air Balloonx3, Master Ball, Rare Candy, Dragon Fang, Draco Plate, Dragon Scale, Big Pearl, Rare Bone, Star Piece, Big Nugget, PP Up, Max Elixir, Max Ether, Max Revive, Luxury Ballx5.
