Shadows of Destruction (Yveltal)

This page lists every Calamity Covenant team.

A dark-robed group called the Calamity Covenant wants the Dark Orb to summon Yveltal. Defeat them in Dark City and at the top of Pokémon Tower, and Mr. Fuji can use the orb to let Yveltal roam Kanto for you, once a month.

At a glance

• Starts: Mr. Fuji, Pokémon Tower 1F in Lavender Town
• You need: a team that can handle legendaries of levels 90–100; Mr. Fuji’s story assumes you have beaten the Kanto Elite Four, so this is post-game content
• Battles: ten Covenant members: eight at level 90, Commander Ankoku and Lord Kurayami at level 100
• Reward: 19,000 F, the Dark Orb, and Yveltal roaming for up to 7 days each month

Walkthrough

1. Speak to Mr. Fuji. He is on Pokémon Tower 1F in Lavender Town. The Calamity Covenant invaded the tower looking for the Dark Orb, which they believe is hidden in Dark City. Tracker quest: Shadows of Destruction.

2. Travel to Dark City. After talking to Mr. Fuji, Dark City appears in your Fast Travel list (100 F).

3. Defeat the Dark City Covenant. Beat the four members, then Commander Ankoku at the top of the city.

4. Return to Pokémon Tower. Ankoku reveals that Lord Kurayami already has the orb and is performing the ritual at the top of the tower. Go up to Pokémon Tower 7F.

5. Defeat the Tower Covenant. Beat the four members, then Lord Kurayami. He hands over the Dark Orb.

6. Speak to Mr. Fuji again. Mr. Fuji now waits on Pokémon Tower 1F, ready to release Yveltal’s energy from the orb. Say yes, and Yveltal roams for you.

Dark types are everywhere, so Fighting, Fairy and Bug moves are your friends. Bring answers for weather (rain and sun) and strong Ghost attackers.

How the Yveltal window works

You keep the Dark Orb, so you only fight the Covenant once. After that, Mr. Fuji can release Yveltal once per month:

• Yveltal roams for 7 days from the moment you release it, or until the 1st of the next month (midnight UTC), whichever comes first.
• From the 1st of every month you can ask Mr. Fuji again.

Find Yveltal with the Roaming Pokemon Tracker at the top right of the screen. It is a normal wild encounter, so you can catch it.
