Ranked PvP
Ranked PvP pits you against other players on a ladder. Ranked battles move your rating, earn Ranked Battle Tokens and fill a monthly reward track. The best players each day, week and month win extra prizes.

Open the PvP window
Section titled “Open the PvP window”The ranked battle button sits in the top-left panel, with your bag, friends and crew buttons. The window has these tabs:
| Tab | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Search | Pick a tier, see its clauses, and queue for a Ranked or Casual battle. Tick Use PVP Team to battle with a saved team instead of your party. |
| Ratings | Ladder standings for a tier and period (daily, weekly, monthly or all time). |
| Usage Data | The most used Pokémon in a tier, with their items, abilities, natures, usage and win rates. |
| Rewards | The prizes for each period and the Ranked Reward Ladder. |
| Battle History | Your past battles, teams and results. |
| PVP Teams | Build six-Pokémon teams from your PC boxes. |
| Bans | Every banned Pokémon, move, item and ability for each tier. Always the most current list. |
| Replays, Gallery, Spectate | Save and share replays, browse public ones, and watch live battles. |
Formats
Section titled “Formats”| Tier | Ranked | Levels | Clauses |
|---|---|---|---|
| OU (OverUsed) | Yes | Every Pokémon is scaled to level 100 | Species, OHKO, Evasion, Moody, Shadow Tag, Arena Trap, Power Construct, Party Size, banned moves, Baton Pass, Sleep |
| UU (UnderUsed) | Yes | Scaled to level 100 | As OU |
| Random | Yes | Set by the game for each Pokémon | Species, OHKO, Evasion, Sleep |
| Doubles OU | Casual only | Scaled to level 100 | As OU |
| Doubles Random | Casual only | Set by the game | As Random |
Because OU and UU scale everything to level 100, you do not need to level your PvP Pokémon. Random battles hand you a random team; Terastallization and Z-Moves only appear there. For what each tier bans, see Bans and clauses. Ranked and Casual battles are both timed; see turn timer.
You cannot queue while you are on the active Crew Wars base, and Random battles cannot be queued from the Elite Four maps.
Bans and clauses
Section titled “Bans and clauses”The game’s OverUsed description sends you here for the ban list. Below is the game’s default list as of October 2026. Bans can change at any time, and the in-game Bans tab always shows the current list, so check it before you build.

Build a PvP team
Section titled “Build a PvP team”- Add a team. Open the PVP Teams tab and choose Add Team.
- Name it. Name the team (up to 25 characters) and pick its tier.
- Pick 6 Pokémon. Click Pokémon in your PC boxes to add them. A team needs exactly six, with no repeated species. The window marks it Legal Team or Illegal Team for that tier.
- Confirm and use it. Choose Confirm. On the Search tab, tick Use PVP Team and pick it.

- Held items: each team member battles with the item it is holding, so sort out held items before you queue.
- How many teams: you can keep up to 8 OU teams and 4 teams for each other tier.
- Traded Pokémon: if a team member is no longer in your PC or your party (for example after you trade it away), it drops out of the team.
Ratings
Section titled “Ratings”- You start at 1,000 rating points in each tier, and the game matches you with players close to your rating when it can.
- Ratings use an Elo system: beating a higher-rated player gains more than beating a lower-rated one, and a win or loss against an equal opponent moves you by 9 points.
- Your rating cannot drop below 750.
The daily, weekly and monthly ladders each reset on their own: daily at midnight UTC, weekly on Monday and monthly on the 1st. You appear in the standings after your first battle, but to win a ladder’s prizes you need a minimum number of battles in that period:
| Ladder | Battles needed for prizes |
|---|---|
| Daily | 10 |
| Weekly | 40 |
| Monthly | 100 (UU: 50) |
Fair play
Section titled “Fair play”- A battle that ends within 20 seconds gives the winner no rating or tokens. The loser still loses rating and gets a short queue cooldown that grows with each repeat that day.
- Disconnecting from a ranked battle also gives you a cooldown. If you disconnect within the first 20 seconds, your opponent gets a few rating points and a token instead.
- Battles between players on the same IP address or device give no rating, tokens or reward points.
- Feeding wins or trading results breaks the game rules and can get you banned from the ladder.

Section titled “Ranked Battle Tokens”
